Look out! Our fearless leader is becoming a major desperado now. Next stop is the dark side, Kevin. With all those nails on the road over there, you might want to consider that anyway.
You'll enjoy the advanced course. I took that almost 2 years ago to meet the requirments to operate on depot (military requirement) It is a very intensive and hands on type training. Quite a few low speed manuvers to master, especially 'the box'. That one was the most difficult low speed trick to get up on to me and I was on that lightweight Duc at the time. At least the instructor was forgiving enough when I put the foot down for just a brief second. Old dirt habits die hard. You'll get breaks in between ride sessions where saftey tactics are well discussed with Q&A time and a thorough briefing of the next manuvers you'll be doing. Dress right with ATG and especially take into consideration ambient conditions outside and you'll be fine. When I took the course it was 98* in the shade and we were grateful for any kind of forward motion or the shade trees.
Nothing like a good soaking to make one apprieciate a good set of leathers.
Welcome aboard, Rick.
Hey Rick,
Yeah I made it home OK, I was soaked though. Took me a few hours to get dried out.
I just went outside to wash the dirt and grime off the FJR and realized I have another nail in my tire, must have happened on the ride home. That is the 5th nail in the last year. I am going to go broke putting tires on this thing.
Thanks for signing up on the board, we will need to get together and ride sometime.
Kevin

OfflineWell…a few weeks ago I got my first ticket on a motorcycle…
(insert crotch kicking lines here)
So instead of paying the fine I got approval to take an Advanced Riders Course from the judge for my Defensive Driving requirement.
I am scheduled to take the course this Saturday. I took the MSF course a few years ago and recommend it to all new riders. has anyone else taken the Advanced Riders Course?
The main topics covered are:
- Traction Management
- Advanced Turning
- Braking and Swerving Skills
- The entire course is on the bike, no classroom.
