Go Cruise Motorcycle Throttle Lock – Ride in Comfort

Providing relief for a rider’s throttle hand on long hauls has been a profitable niche market for many years. A whole variety of simple mechanical devices like the Throttle Rocker palm rest, the Vista Cruise throttle clamp, and the Throttlemeister twistgrip friction lock have allowed rid- ers the freedom to loosen their grip on the throttle and work the kinks out while maintaining speed conveniently and affordably.

But before any of these options existed, resourceful old-timers used a bent wheel spoke for the purpose. One end of the spoke was bent around the throttle in a circle tightly enough that friction would hold it in place with the other end extended over the front brake lever. Once the desired speed was reached, the rider would use his index finger to push the straight section of the spoke down to contact the brake lever, thus holding the throttle in place. When the throttle was rolled off. the spoke slipped back. As you can imagine, the major problem with a spoke was the difficulty of bending it so there was just enough tension on the twistgrip to keep it from slipping when you didn’t want it to.

Taking a page from history, 2Wheelride.com has created a new take on this old-school idea the Go Cruise Throttle Control™. The Go Cruise operates on exactly the same principle as the old bent spoke, but high-tech composite materials ensure that it actually works reliably.

The device is designed to work with normal rubber grips but also comes with a silicone ring that provides additional girth on thinner grips or to create friction when the Go Cruise is used with metal-clad custom grips.

Use your index finger to set the Go Cruise. Simply rolling off the throttle disengages it. Engine vibration didn’t create any slipping either.

The only disadvantage is that if you want to disengage the Go Cruise without reducing speed (or rolling off the throttle) you must use your right hand to lift it off the brake lever. The Go Cruise retails for $19.95 and comes in matte black or silver. We think it’s well worth the modest price.
