Man charged for video taping a police officer with helmet cam

I thought this was an interesting story and was wondering what your thoughts on this are?
The rider was speeding, riding recklessly, and deserved a ticket.
But what about the rest of this story? I ride with a camera frequently. Is it or should it be illegal to continue to record if you are pulled over?

About the Author: Kevin is a self proclaimed motorcycle fanatic. There is nothing like the sense of freedom that riding on a motorcycle brings. I love the saying, "You never see a motorcycle parked in front of a therapist's office." For me a short ride or a long journey is the best therapy that money can buy.
A plain clothed officer in an unmarked car has no business making traffic stops unless the rider was actively running from the marked car behind him. Pulling a gun seems like a bit much too. It’s not like a rider can hide a weapon in his lap.
In Pa. it’s illegal to record audio without permission, but that just means the audio is inadmissible in court. But this law may be applied differently when police are involved. If they can video tape us why can’t we video tape them?
Something doesn’t ring right… has some of this video been cut out? I think he was being chased and knew it… the aggression by the officer seems to point to this.
However, the officer exited his vehicle with the weapon drawn not after the fact that the rider was backing up as stated in the video. There seems to be a bit of drama here we aren’t privy to.
One side of the story is all we get but by simply posting the video doesn’t warrant the seizure of his computers. If in the eyes of the State’s Attorney the video in and of itself is a crime – Stay far away from MD!
well ive been riding with a helmet camera for 4 years, never had a problem arise like this,….but, the rider was speeding and what they call reckless (wheelie) thus the ticket. But as for they cop being filmed was an total coincidence, and sudden entrapment, and possible motorcyclist hater in a cage. Dont get me wrong i have family in the law enforcement, k-9 unit’s and probation officer, so i know the legalities. As for my brother rider, the speeding should be done on the track, NO COP’s.
Yep I agree, save it for the track. From this edited video it would appear that the cop over reacted to the situation. If some one stopped and cut me off in an unmarked car like that my first reaction would be to back up and get out of there too.
He should be ticketed for his driving offense, but the legalities around posting the video is ridiculous.
yep, i agree. there’s no telling how many officer’s have seen me in Texarkana with my vid camera planted in my helmet, when my visor is up that is. But also im not trying to make it obvious ether. My vlog’s are sticky personal, not to show off like free styler’s (no offence). The last one i did with my camera was when i got stranded on side of I30, i made a vlog while waiting for some help and i do believe hundred ppl saw me that day…
Hey Don, in regards to video on the cops, guess it all depends on if your doing that in support of a ‘ethnic minority’ incident or not. Like Rodney King, etc. Then you can get the ACLU communists to help you day & night. If not, I figure ya better own a judge somewhere.
